CIPRIANA BONITA. REVIVIENDO EL AYER

Todavía tengo mucho material de mi añorada Mariña lucense, pero sin duda tenia hoy que sacar a Cipriana la hermosa gaviota esquimal o de Thayer, y la fascinante historia de su descubrimiento e identificación (que no siempre tienen que ir unidos). David calleja y Ricardo Rodríguez la observarón en Marzo del 2010 en la piscifactoría de Xove y desde luego les mosqueo mucho, tanto su aspecto como su comportamiento. A raíz de ahí hubo una verdadera movilización de gavioteros, primeramente foraneos, pero la cosa se fue liando y paso a ser de ambito internacional. Para darle  más emoción al tema, Toño Salazar saco a la luz unas fotos que tenia de diciembre de 2009 de una gaviota que le pareció una posible argentea "rarita" y claro todo iba cuadrando en el puzle, la posible thayeri llevaba todo el invierno en la zona. Pero ahí no queda la cosa, aparecen otras fotos del 2008 de unos franceses que vieron el ejemplar y la consideraron una smithsonianus, con lo cual se raiz de ellas se  pudo cuadrar la edad de la gaviota. 

Más emoción. En marzo del 2011 David Calleja y Raul Carrillo intentan reencontrase con ella y ¡bingo1, lo consiguen. El el 2012 no se la observo pero aparecio nuevamente en el 2013. En 2014 tampoco dio señales durante el mes de marzo, pero  el 28 de diciembre aparece por la piscifactoría de Lago permaneciendo hasta casi mediados de abril del 2015.

Una labor encomiable la realizada por todos este  grupo de avidos ornitologos-gavioteros y que gracias a ellos hemos podido  muchos y mucho disfrutar de la presencia de Cipriana, la gaviota esquimal o de thayer que fijo su residencia invernal en San Ciprian (San Cibrao, Lugo).
